Position Summary
Performs duties in accordance with Departmental and Teller Policies and Department Financial Procedures, verbal instructions and applicable accounting laws and regulations. Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Communicates courteously with clients, co-workers, and the public
Receives and verifies cash at the beginning and at the closing of shifts
Balance cash and money order transactions throughout the shift
Identifies and accurately posts client payments
Assesses daily distribution of all collections per category
Verifies receipts before the computer system posts and updates records
Completes daily paperwork for drawer balance totals
Assists staff and clients with client related financial information
Provides releasable financial information to attorneys and clients
Files all cancelled checks and monthly paperwork
Responsible for postage and mail drop-off prior to 5:00 pm to the post office
Process civil UA"s and duplicate certificates in the computer and performs within department guidelines
Mails restitution checks at the end of the month for the escheating process
Prepares money order copies, deposit slips, temporary receipts and daily reports for the monthly
report
Inputs accurate information into client case-files through significant documentation, data entry, and scanning in the Department"s computerized offender case management system
Archives monthly financial data and closed probation files
Verifies financial information with the County and District Clerk"s offices
Upon certification, performs TLETS duties for background checks within department and state guidelines
Answers telephone and directs calls to the appropriate party
Submits all required reports in an accurate and timely fashion
Provides coverage for absent co-workers as needed
Performs other clerical and job related tasks as delegated by the fiscal manager
Assists with other Department related responsibilities to include quarterly projects, clerical duties, data entry, etc
Regular attendance and timeliness are required
EDUCATION:
Required:
High school diploma and/or GED
Preferred:
Associate"s degree from an accredited college or university
SKILLS ~ EXPERIENCE:
Required:
A minimum of (3) three year of full time teller and/or cashier experience
Applicant must be twenty-one years of age on /or before date of hire
Computer and computer software experience
Possess skills to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Must possess a valid driver"s license and reliable transportation
Must provide proof of liability insurance
Office work requires prolonged periods of sitting and standing, moderate lifting, and walking.
Must effectively deal with the possibility of physical altercations and is subject to moderate to arduous physical exertion, applicants must be physically capable.
Reading procedures, policies, standards, case files, reports, etc.
Lifting case files, bending, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, climbing stairs, speaking, and hearing. Significant computer data entry.
Ability to manage stress in meeting deadlines, adapt to change, and other physical efforts as required. Must be able to deal with stress associated with serving offenders and the public
Follow written instructions; work in harmony with co-workers, sentencing courts, victims, and other county department personnel
Preferred:
Fluent bilingual ability
Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Works indoors. Comes in contact with criminal courts, courthouse personnel, law enforcement and community agencies. Provides customer service to individuals who are on supervision for felony and/or misdemeanor offenses.
PHYSICAL DEMAND REQUIREMENTS: Reading, bending, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, climbing stairs, speaking, hearing, lifting case files, significant computer data entry, driving personal automobile, and the ability to manage stress in meeting deadlines and change, and other physical efforts as required.
HOURS / SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
Teller schedule varies between the hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Fridays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
