Position Summary: Under general supervision constructs, maintains, and repairs machine shop tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and R&D prototypes requiring a high degree of accuracy and close tolerances. Assignments require considerable ingenuity and are varied in nature. May provide technical guidance to other team members.

Essential Job Functions Include:

  • Operates a variety of machine tools and works with engineers to develop or modify tooling.
  • Works from blueprints, specifications, diagrams and Solid models.
  • Checks work using precision inspection instruments and devices.
  • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.
  • Program, set-up/operate TDM department CNC machines.
  • Plans and preforms all machine operations to construct, alter, and/or repair tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, etc. as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy.
  • Problem solves- individually or as part of a group as job duties require.
  • Accountable for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in assigned area. Responsible for design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, including a self-assessment and report to management.
  • Accountable for developing and monitoring processes and practices necessary for legal and ethical compliance in assigned area.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Performs other various duties as may be assigned.
  • Work safely and without injury.

Availability Requirements:

Due to the nature and scope of the essential functions of this position, the importance of personal interactions with coworkers and employees, and the availability of job-related tools, equipment and resources at work, performance of the essential functions requires regular, consistent availability, accessibility, and presence on-site and after-hours.


This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm. This position may require long hours and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.


Education and/or Experience:

  • HS diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two or more years machining experience including set-ups, CNC programming preferred or equivalent education,
  • Working knowledge of Master Cam Software required.

  • Must have working knowledge of TDM department machine shop tools.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers and visitors.
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve.
  • Computer skills, i.e. creating, transferring and downloading files required.
  • Working knowledge of GDT (Geometric Dimensioning/Tolerancing) preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand shop math and trigonometry required.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to facilitate activities necessary to a project’s completion.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

  • Use a personal computer or other technology devices frequently and consistently for the purpose of reviewing, analyzing, creating, transmitting, and presenting documents, data and other business-related information.
  • Lift, transport and/or move a specified amount of weight frequently each day in the performance of regular duties as outlined below with respect to each assembly area. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and descending a stepladder may also be required.


Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:

The work environment conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. This position’s job duties are performed generally in a shop or warehouse type environment. Team members in this position may be exposed to loud noises from operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals and vapors, and possibly injury associated with work involving manufactured parts, assembly and heavy machinery. The team member may also occasionally be required to work in an office environment with traditional office lighting and office furniture, as well as consistent and frequent noise, interruptions and other similar distractions.
