Job description
Career Counselors are responsible for ensuring that program participants are provided with the tools to reach their career, academic and personal goals.
Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Target, recruit, and enroll eligible youth and young adults per WIOA eligibility guidelines.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, employers, and training providers.
- Develop service plans to guide youth program participation and regularly assess the strengths, barriers, and needs of participants.
- Manage a caseload of enrolled participants through regular, documented contact.
- Assist youth services team with service delivery, operations, and events/activities as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in the human service field and one year of related experience in workforce development, youth services, or related field.
- Ability to maintain accurate and timely records.
- Ability to communicate effectively in positive and negative situations.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision.
- Ability to relate to program consumers, participating agencies, and community partners.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form.
