Cold Jet’s Milford location is looking for a Second Shift Laser Operator who will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating various fabrication shop machines to form a variety of metal parts. First 3-4 weeks training on first shift before starting the second shift. First shift is four 10-hour days per week Mon-Thurs 6 am to 4:30 pm. Second shift is four 10-hour days per week, Mon pm to Fri am, 4:15 pm to 2:15 am.
Position Responsibilities
- Analyze and develop production methods and processes required to manufacture new components and products.
- Work from drawings or samples to select appropriate tooling/dies and methodology for the job. Methodology to include set-up procedure, tools, operation sequence, and other pertinent data.
- Work closely with engineers in developing new methods and procedures, tool designs, etc.
- Set-up, adjust, and operate a press brake, tubing bender, steel roller, and other equipment to form a variety of metal parts.
- Set up machines, positioning, and securing tooling/dies. Position workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
- Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
- Produce samples for inspection.
- Check work to samples or drawings using quality instruments to determine conformity.
- Adjust to secure required dimensions and quality.
- Produce production run.
- Fill in as necessary with other equipment and departments.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years manufacturing experience.
- Strong in math and geometry calculations with compound angles.
- Familiar with basic hand-held measuring tools.
- Able to form, draw, coin, and inspect.
- Familiar with CO2 laser.
- Able to operate an Amada CO2/Fiber laser. Able to program it is a plus.
- Other machining and/or welding skills a plus.
