Job Summary:
The Director of Retail will work with all club outlet managers to establish a distinctly unique brand identity for each outlet. Responsible for actively engaging and recommending vendors to define products, procure inventory, negotiate discounts, and set pricing. The Director of Retail will be responsible to ensure that established processes are maintained to ensure a consistent cost of sales is maintained in all retail areas.
The Director of Retail will set and achieve various sales goals by closely monitoring product sales with managers while working closely with the marketing team to ensure that products are given effective promotional attention. This position is also responsible for ensuring all retail outlets perform to achieve established topline revenue goals while working with departmental leaders in Finance and Club Operations to ensure costs remain within budgeted guidelines and that all inventory management systems are executed to standards. In addition, the Director of Retail will work with select buyers to ensure the proper inventory mix is on hand based on season and guest demand.

Essential Job Functions:
Ensure the availability of merchandise and services by approving contracts; maintaining inventories and working with buyers to ensure a proper inventory mix.- Conduct regular meetings with retail shareholders to ensure proper policies and procedures are properly executed and highlight areas of concern and success within all retail outlets on the property.
- Maintain a frequent presence in all retail stores to ensure standards are met and a healthy rapport is established with retail associates.
- Coordinate with Montage Palmetto Bluff and Montage International on new construction of stores as well as any design upgrades of stores or system upgrades.
- Manage relationships with all vendors from a system as well as an inventory perspective.
- Consistently monitor sales, inventory and turnover, par and reorder processes
- Ensure all logo use falls within established style guidelines
- Market merchandise by studying marketing/sales promotion, and display plans; analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.
- Secure merchandise by implementing security systems and measures.
- Ensure that retail operations meet standards for a memorable guest experience with a keen focus on a well-trained staff that provides warm, personalized, and engaging service
- Monitors receiving of merchandise in the system making any changes into the retail system to account for the variance.
- Assist managers in contacting vendors regarding damaged or returned merchandise.
- Support department managers to input all purchase orders in the point of sale system made by the Retail Buyer annually. This includes the data input for creating new item numbers, department, description, vendor, cost, retail, and quantity for each category of merchandise.
- Coordinates with department managers on planning store layout, changing displays, and putting new merchandise in the shop.
- Responsible for all corporate group purchases. By contacting the corporate liaison on their retail needs: placing the order on custom logo merchandise, receiving corporate logo approval then, billing the customer.
- Monitor sales and control mark-ups, mark-downs, and discounts in conjunction with the department manager. Create innovative shop promotions to stimulate revenue.
- Negotiates with manufacturers for incentive programs for volume discounts
- Calculate “Open to Buy” for each shop for soft and hard goods based on approved budgeted revenue and cost of sales.
- Analyze reports for each retail outlet monthly: merchandise sales, turnover, quantities sold per category, revenue per category, inventory levels, cost of sales, and vendor sell-through
- Works with department managers to formulate an annual retail budget, merchandise strategies, and cost of sales for soft and hard goods.
- Ensure all necessary reorders are submitted in a timely fashion and follow up on any pending orders.
- Assists with the selection of uniform purchases for food and beverage and recreation departments.
- Ensure all new products are on the floor in a timely and attractive manner and that the back stock is clearly organized in the storage room.
- Ensure there is a systematic approach to ensure that PO Creation, Receiving of Merchandise and Monthly Inventories work together seamlessly to create a financial performance for the division that achieves all topline, costs, and profit goals for all retail outlets.
- Ensure proper systems and standard operating procedures are implemented to mitigate internal and external shrinkage.
- Northstar expert for POS/Inventory/Purchasing modules
- In conjunction with Marketing, operate Flow Gallery.
Qualifications:
High school or equivalent education required, Bachelor’s degree preferred- Minimum of five years of experience in retail management that includes multiunit oversight.
- Experience in a luxury retail environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory management processes from PO generation, receiving of inventory, accruals, and inventory management.
- Demonstrated success in successfully managing complex business processes.
- Demonstrated success in opening new outlets from ideation, budgeted planning, and helping to ensure the design matches the financial goals of the new outlet while maintaining the proper esthetic for 5 Star Service.
- Strong emphasis on customer service

- Strong leadership, communication, and negotiating skills are beneficial for this position.
- Must be dependable and available to work on weekends, nights, and/or holidays based on business demands
- Excellent written/verbal communication, and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements:
Position requires walking and standing most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours in length. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks. Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.- Valid driver’s license or reliable method of transportation to/from work

- Ability to carry up to 35 lbs. (wine cases, produce, etc.)
- Talking and listening occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and subordinates.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
