    Job Summary

    Position will perform administrative and technical work in support of research mission in the Department of Psychiatry. Position wlll assist department Pis In coordlnating clinical research and other lnternal/external related research projects. Duties Include but are not limited to performing complicated clinical procedures, coordinating clinical trlal research by preparing human assurance protocols, Informed consent documents, and research related papers, participating In research data collection, performing data entry in compliance with HIPAA, GCPs, GOA and sponsor required guidelines, serving as a patient liaison, etc. Position will assist In developing new research techniques and procedures.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Assists faculty members (Pis, CO-ls, etc.) and the Research Manager in conducting new, extramurally funded clinical trials and assists in coordinating clinical trial research by preparing human assurance protocols; infonned consent documents, CRFs (case report forms); and other research related documents. Handles submissions to the Institutional Review Board (IRBNet and WIRB).
    • Performs date collection and entry in oompliance with HIPPA, GCPs, HAC, FDA, and sponsor required guidelines. Serves as patient liaison, schedules appointments, assists with exams, diagnosis, therapeutic procedures and neurocognitlve tests. Perfonns various advanced assessments of research subjects to include the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HRSD). Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview Plus (MINI), Montgomery-Asberg Depression Scale (MADRS), Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Axis I Disorders (SCID) and the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS) among others. Is also responsible for assuring the configuration of actiwatches as well as the downloading of and analysis of actigraphy data. Cooresponds to queries and other actions with the study sponsors. Enters data Into databases, Including data bases such as RedCap.
    • Assists in obtaining vital signs, perfonning phlebotomy, processing laboretory sample.
    • Assists with application of EEG monitoring electrodes in the context of electro convulsive therapy, and transfers EEG data to online data base. lndependentiy performs pupilometry for the pupillary light reflex. lndependenUy controls software, perfonns artifact redaction and collects measures of heart rate variability.
    • Serves as coordinator for the Pis NIH and industry sponsored studies. Coordinates research schedules with various other GRU facilities to include the Clinical Research Phannacy and the Sleep Center. Assists in coordinating and supervising the research activities of students and research volunteers.
    • Attends meetings, seminars, etc., related to grant conduct and management Is responsible for generating and disseminating meeting minutes to collaboring sites. Provides analytical writing and training support for special projects.

    Required Qualifications

    Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research.ORBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years research and/or clinical experience.

    Shift/Salary/Benefits

    Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

    Pay Grade: R14

    Salary: Minimum $36,197/annually - $45,000/annually

    Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.

    The primary work location for this position is within the Augusta University Medical Center or other Augusta University Health System Clinic Space and is subject to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services guidelines.
