JOB OVERVIEW

The strong Sales & Category Analyst will be the data and analytics expert for clients, responsible for reporting and sales storytelling to drive the business forward through data driven decisions. Providing direct support to the team through sales analysis, trend analysis, general reporting, category dynamics & consumer behavior. Provide insights, review & recommendations to clients, retailers & team. Serve as an analytic and category management expert using the category management process as a decision platform for all initiatives designed to optimize category performance at the customer(s)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Weekly POS & Inventory Reporting
  • Monthly Category Dashboards & Recaps
  • Analytics to Insights
  • Leverage Multiple Sources to Develop Category & Shopper Insights
  • Supporting the Account Manager to drive business growth via Sales Story Telling, Forecasting,
  • Promotional ROI and Efficiencies
  • Tailor national category stories and category vision to specific customers based on customer/shopper insights
  • Leverage category-specific experts at center for best category knowledge and newest category management insights
  • Bring a category perspective to customer conversations and customer plans
  • Educate the customer and sales team on consumer and business category insights, including category stories that influence customers to act
  • Assist in requests by senior management for information/presentations to support strategy, drive sales and execution of category vision
  • Identify category trends, fair share opportunity gaps, and share of wallet and leakage opportunities that lead to customer recommendations
  • Perform competitive analysis by category to identify trends, opportunities and challenges to core business areas

REQUIRED SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES

  • 4 year degree preferred
  • 5+ years of Sales Analytics and/or Category Management experience with direct experience with syndicated data systems ie: Nielsen, IRI, Prospace, etc.
  • Prior experience working in the Naturals category a plus
  • Effective and efficient project management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, & keep projects moving
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of consumer products industry & category, brand, & retail strategies.
  • Ability to listen, understand, & resolve competing priorities

VACCINATION STATUS

MPG does not require candidates to be vaccinated when hired. However, if the client the role is being hired to support requires all candidates to be vaccinated, MPG will require those candidates working with that client to be vaccinated.
