About this job:

We are looking to hire a Senior Claims professional to join our claims team based in Stamford, CT reporting to our Head of Claims.

We are a global, diversified reinsurer with an expanding variety of insurance products including direct MGA business. We are a centralized organization and bring a more personal approach to the marketplace with a distinctive balance of technical skills and client focus, expertise and partnership. In this role you will be primarily focused on administering the claims activity stemming from a portfolio which will include, but not limited to Transactional Risk products, D&O and Other Casualty lines of business. In this capacity, you will evaluate the claims, manage any litigation and collaborate with our internal and external business partners

About the role:

• Identify, analyze and appropriately address coverage issues under from the affected coverage forms. Effectively communicate coverage positions to insureds and brokers
• Proactively manages the claim investigation and/or litigation, addressing liability and damage issues to assess exposure on potentially high severity files
• Collaborates well with internal business partners on existing/ongoing claims as well as general trends and developments within the portfolio.
• Sets timely and appropriate reserves within authority or makes recommendations for the appropriate action plan on potentially high severity claims.
• Provides outstanding customer service and works well with the insured, broker/MGA during the adjustment of claims.
• Travel for settlement conferences, mediations, and trials as needed.

About you:

• Should have a high degree of specialized and technical competence in the handling of Transaction Risk and/or D&O claims
• 10 years of claim handling experience, with prior experience handling claim file in legal or carrier environment is required
• College degree ; JD preferred.
• Ability to think and work independently
• Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work with sophisticated accounts and brokers in a professional manner
• Strong team player

The role will be based in Stamford and hybrid office-based position with Monday and Friday as remote working days.
