Role Summary/Purpose:
The VP, Compliance Initiatives will contribute to the development and support of key compliance programs, compliance management system enhancements and other enterprise-wide regulatory projects. This role will collaborate with business leaders to help drive compliance risk mitigation strategy and solve complex problems in areas such as risk identification, assessment, and monitoring as it relates to business-initiated change including change associated with new, modified and expanded products and services as well as business-initiated changes in customer facing capabilities, processes, and systems. This role will also assist with the enhancement of risk identification, assessment and monitoring related to fair and responsible treatment of customers, including limited English proficiency customers. In addition, to working on specific strategic compliance projects, this role will assist in tracking the Compliance team’s goals and management of the Compliance Team’s budget.

Essential Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, enhance compliance risk mitigation programs responsive to new and evolving regulatory guidance and matters requiring attention
Manage large cross-functional projects, ensuring an attention to detail
Develop/enhance policies and procedures to identify, manage and mitigate compliance risks
Collaborate with business partners across the organization to ensure compliance requirements related to various projects are met
Lead functional work streams related to compliance oversight
Support Internal Audit and Exam requests, as required
Keep pace with the latest developments in the regulatory environment and the financial services industry to provide expert guidance to the Synchrony Financial Compliance Team.
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree; in lieu of a degree 9+ years’ experience in finance, business or related field
- 5+ years experience in finance, business or related field
- 3+ years experience in audit, controls, risk and/or compliance
- 2+ years experience leading projects

The salary range for this position is 85,000.00 - 170,000.00 USD Annual
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
