SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for all phases of company accounting activities to include the following: supervise, direct and develop the Accounting staff; Assist in the preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements; Evaluate, improve and implement accounting policies and procedures; and support financial projects. Ensures an adequate audit trail to properly support information. Ensure expenses incurred for goods/services are affected for authorized expenditures only; payments are charged to the appropriate cost center, and are processed in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Report to the Controller.
2. Prepare and consolidate monthly financial statements.
3. Establish and maintain proper internal controls.
4. Serve as a liaison to external auditors.
5. Assist the Controller in managing and executing the following:
6. Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
7. Support month-end close procedures (GL reconciliation and journal entry review/approval).
8. Supervise Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Procurement, Revenue and General Accountant financial processes.
9. Supervise Accounts Payable, and Accounting personnel.
10. Manage Fixed Asset Tracking and capitalization.
11. Perform and manage annual Fixed Asset and Supplies Inventory observation.
12. Manage all aspects of the general ledger.
13. Maintain in-depth and hands-on knowledge of accounting functions and processes.
14. Review new Accounting Standard Updates (ASU) and Accounting Standard Codifications (ASC) issued by FASB to determine impact and implementation of accounting changes to authoritative FASB codification.
15. Evaluate and revise accounting systems, financial processes, company policies, and internal controls for best practices and risk mitigation.
16. Review all month end close balance sheet reconciliations performed by the Finance Team.
17. Review Month End Close Checklists to ensure timely completion of Balance Sheet Reconciliations for each assigned team member.
18. Create and maintain a consistent month end close schedule that reduces bottlenecks and promotes culture unity.
19. Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Consistently ensures knowledge of and complies with Mountain Park Health Center policies and procedures.
2. Observes and respects the confidentiality of all aspects information in regard to patients, visitors, vendors and co-workers.
3. Maintain consistent, timely communication regarding all facets of departmental activities with his/her co-workers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required
- Significant experience with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required
- 3+ years of accounting experience in the healthcare industry preferred
- CPA License required
- Oracle Software competency preferred
